Formed in 1934, the Australian Society of Anaesthetists is a not-for-profit member funded organisation dedicated to supporting and connecting Australian anaesthetists. They work with and for their members to ensure the high standards of the profession. They primarily focus on the economic, workforce and professional interests of its members.

The 77th National Scientific Congress of the Australian Society of Anaesthetists (ASA) was held in the impressive International Convention Centre in Sydney’s Darling Harbour. An excellent scientific program was planned including refresher courses, lectures, input from the SIGs, research and poster sessions, workshops and problem-based learning activities.

The scientific programme consisted of five days of hands-on workshops, small group discussions, concurrent sessions and plenary presentations. The program included:

  • Five-day program
  • Workshops
  • Special Interest Groups (SIGs)
  • Small Group Discussions (SGDs)
  • Welcome Reception
  • Trade drinks in the exhibition
  • Family/casual night at Luna Park
  • Gala Dinner

Having worked together on the 2014, 2016, 2018, 2019 and the upcoming 2021 congresses, ICE Australia was contracted to professionally coordinate all aspects of the event. This included liaising with all service providers, sponsors, exhibitors and delegates to ensure a successful outcome was achieved. ICE Australia, in conjunction with the committee, closely monitored the congress budget to ensure a low registration fee could be offered to all delegates whilst still achieving the best possible outcome for the congress.

  • Overwhelmingly positive response from delegates who were very impressed with the range of topics and speakers.
  • The congress exceeded the expected sponsorship sales by $11,500.
  • A very high demand of onsite registrations for workshops and additional social function tickets.
