The Organising Committee for the 2nd International Conference on Medical Bionics invites you to be part of this year’s Conference by submitting an abstract for poster presentation.
The abstracts should present original and unpublished advances of knowledge in accordance with the Conference themes;
Overview of medical bionics: design, development & commercialisation
Bionic Hearing: improved hearing technologies
Bionic Vision: retinal and CNS prostheses
Neurobionics: neural interfaces for CNS and spinal cord stimulation
Enabling technologies for medical bionics: ICT, smart materials and drug delivery technologies
Future directions in medical bionics; 'blue-sky' projects, and
Other related topics
All accepted abstracts will be published in the Conference Abstract Booklet given to all conference delegates.
Accepted authors will also have the opportunity to be considered for an oral presentation, rather than a poster presentation. These speakers will be invited to submit a manuscript for the special conference edition of the Journal of Neural Engineering.
Please note: Poster presentations will be an important feature of this year’s Conference with dedicated time in the program for viewing and discussion.
Student Prizes*
To be eligible for one or both categories of student prizes you must be a post-graduate student. This must be indicated in the submission process along with the name of the university for which you are currently enrolled. All accepted abstracts submitted by students will be considered for these prizes, and will be evaluated by an expert panel on their merit and relevance to the Conference.
1. Early-Bird Student Registration Prize
This prize will provide the student with a complimentary registration. A number of these prizes are available. Successful students will be notified at the end of the abstract review process.
2. Student Poster Prize
This prize will provide the student with a $500 cash prize. A number of these prizes are available. Successful students will be announced at the Conference.

Abstract Guidelines
Abstracts of no more than 300 words may be submitted. The Program Committee will evaluate all abstracts for inclusion in the poster presentation program. Submitted abstracts may also be considered for inclusion within the conference program as an oral presentation. When submitting your abstract you will be asked to include the following:
Title of Presentation
Author/s and affiliations (If post-grad student, state enrolling university)
Presenter’s name
Presenter’s postal and email addresses, phone and fax numbers
Presenter’s previous presentation experience
Theme (from the above list)
Abstract (Please use the abstract template when writing your abstract)
Indicate if you wish to be considered for an award

Create your abstract by using the Abstract Template provided to ensure your word document is formatted correctly and follow the instructions carefully. Incorrectly submitted documents will be sent back to the author for reformatting and this may exceed the deadline date for your submission to be received. Upload your abstract in Word format only.

Important Points to Note
Potential presenters should note all costs to attend the Conference must be met from their own resources.
At least one author of the accepted Abstract is expected to attend and present their poster at the Conference.
All abstracts will be reviewed by the Scientific Advisory Committee who reserve the right to reject any abstract it considers does not meet the criteria.
The number of accepted abstracts will also be dependent on the amount of available space at the conference venue.
