University of Western Sydney
The University of Western Sydney has six campuses located in Greater Western Sydney (GWS) and a mission that links its activities to the development of the region.
GWS is a global centre for trade, innovation and learning with the third largest economy in Australia behind the Sydney CBD and Melbourne. Its population is the fastest growing in Australia and more than 150 of the nation’s top 500 companies are located within GWS.

The multicultural community of GWS is one of the most diverse in the world with over 100 nationalities calling GWS home. The diversity of the region is further reflected in the contrasting strengths of the 14 GWS local government areas. The region combines the majestic beauty of the World Heritage Listed Blue Mountains National Park; state-of-the-art Olympic venues; historical sites of Indigenous and Colonial importance; and traditional rural environments with the high-tech business districts, retail and service centres typical of a modern regional economic powerhouse.
The University of Western Sydney is a leading centre of learning, research and culture in the community. We pride ourselves on developing sustainable partnerships with local organisations, residents, government, industry and business. This collaboration enriches and strengthens both the University and our community through the advancement and transfer of knowledge, making a significant contribution to improving the quality and vibrance of life across Greater Western Sydney.
Our goal is currently achieved through a diverse range of outreach programs and research projects. We also support commercial initiatives including conference facilities, and provide access to continuing and professional education opportunities.
School of Engineering
The School of Engineering was established in January 2006, following the amalgamation of the former School of Engineering and Industrial Design and the School of Construction, Property and Planning.
The school offers a diverse range of innovative professional degree programs at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels in a dynamic yet relevant mix of disciplines in engineering, construction and industrial design. We have one of Australia’s best laboratories for testing and monitoring for the construction and manufacturing industries, working with steel, plastics and their composites, polystyrene, alloys and timber.
We also offer capabilities for mechatronics, industrial design and small-scale production. A key industrial service is 3D printing to produce physical models and prototypes.
