Mark Selway became Chief Executive of Boral in January 2010. From 2001-2009, Mr Selway was the Chief Executive of the Weir Group PLC, a Scottish-headquartered, publicly listed engineering business. Before returning to Australia to join Boral, Mr Selway worked in the UK for more than 13 years and prior to that, was based in the USA for seven years in the North American automotive market. |

Andrew Aitken
Andrew Aitken is the Green Star Director responsible for rating tool development for the Green Building Council of Australia. He has a degree in Electrical Engineering from the Queensland University of Technology.
Prior to joining the GBCA in May 2008, Andrew worked as a consulting engineer and in various levels of government. He has specific expertise relating to renewable energy, building services, carbon accounting and sustainable development. His work has included policy development, codes of practice and guideline development, industry and community consultation relating to sustainable development, renewable energy and energy efficiency projects.
Andrew is currently overseeing the Green Building Council of Australia's work on revisions to the materials credits in Green Star.
Andrew has a passion for getting the simple things done that lead to more sustainable outcomes. |

Peter Anderson
Chief Executive
Australian Chamber of Commerce & Industry
As Chief Executive of Australia's peak business organisation Peter Anderson speaks at a national level on behalf of all State and Territory chambers of commerce, twenty-five national industry associations and more than 350,000 small, medium and large businesses across all business sectors.
Peter's appointment in January 2008 built on his more than twenty-five years at the forefront of policy and advocacy in both private and public sectors. His expertise was honed in senior roles, including, as Executive Director of the Retail Traders' Association of South Australia; Partner of leading South Australian law firm Fisher Jeffries; Chief of Staff to former South Australian Premier Hon Dean Brown and as Senior Adviser and a key influencer of Commonwealth Government workplace relations, employment, small business, trade practices and workplace health and safety policy between 1997-2001.
Peter's particular proficiencies include the areas of public policy, employment, workplace relations, small business, and federalism in addition to constitutional, administrative and international law.
Peter also represents Australian business regionally and globally at international economic forums such as the Organisation for Economic Development and Cooperation (OECD), the International Chamber of Commerce, the International Organisation of Employers and on the Governing Body of the International Labour Organisation. |

Shannan Calabro

Shannan joined AMP Capital Investors in November 2008 as State Manager QLD. At AMP Capital Investors Shannan works closely with financial planning intermediaries providing support and promoting AMP Capital Investor's capabilities.
Shannan has over 15 years experience in the Financial Services Industry. Prior to joining AMP Capital, Shannan worked at BT Financial Group as a Key Account Manager and Business Development Manager across Investment Management, Platform and Risk. Shannan's background in financial services also includes positions at Perpetual Private Clients and Macquarie Bank.

Major General Dave Chalmers AO, CSC
Major General Dave Chalmers graduated from the Royal Military College Duntroon in December 1980 and was commissioned into the Royal Australian Armoured Corps. Major General Chalmers was National Commander of the Australian Contingent on Operation Tanager in East Timor in 2001/2002. He also commanded Combined Joint Task Force 629; the ADF relief effort in Sumatra following the 2004 Tsunami. Major General Chalmers was made a Member of the Order of Australia in Jan 2003 for his service in East Timor and promoted to become an Officer of the Order of Australia in Jun 2006 for distinguished service as the Commander, Combined Joint Task Force 629 on Operation Sumatra Assist. Major General Chalmers has been the Operational Commander of the Northern Territory Emergency Response since its inception in June 2007. |

Des Chalmers
Des Chalmers has been in the cement and concrete industry for over 15 years, and has had sales, production and technical roles in that time. Currently he is Group Product and Process Technology Manager for Cement Australia. Previously he spent over 16 years in the electricity generation industry in a number of senior scientific roles. Des has post graduate qualifications in both science and management. In addition to his Cement Australia role, Des is a member of a number of industry and Standards Association committees, and is currently President of the Queensland Branch of the Concrete Institute of Australia. |

Katie Dean
Head of Macro, Australian Economics at ANZ
Katie Dean is the Head of Macro, Australian Economics at ANZ. In this role, Katie leads a team that provides forecasts and strategic research on the Australian economy and financial markets. Katie has extensive contact with a range of domestic and international business and financial markets clients. Katie is also a regular media commentator on these issues.
Prior to joining ANZ, Katie worked at Australian Commonwealth Treasury. Katie has also worked at the Centre for Economic Development Studies at Vietnam National University. |

Ron Delaney
CEO, Hap Seng Building Materials Sdn Bhd
Ron Delaney is the CEO of Hap Seng Building Materials Sdn Bhd, a privately held Malaysian quarry and building supplies group, with over 2000 employees, operating more than ten quarries and brick plants throughout Peninsular and East Malaysia.
Whilst Ron's industry career started in South Australia, he has spent most of the last twenty five years in South East Asia in executive and senior managing roles in firms with interests in quarrying, construction materials, ceramic tiles and land development. He played a leading role in the introduction of improved quarrying practices into Vietnam during the early nineties. He is a passionate advocate for and proponent of corporate social responsibility, not as an adjunct to but as an integral part of strategy for construction material firms.
Ron is a recognised business leader in his adopted country, a Fellow of the Institute, is a frequent world traveller in his other role as Managing Director of Malaysian Mosaics Berhad, has family in Australia and France, has a highly refined palate(for wine and food) and when time permits, relaxes with a round of golf. |

Ivan Donaldson
CEO, Australian Building Codes Board (ABCB)
Ivan Donaldson is CEO of Australia's national building code-writing body, the Australian Building Codes Board (ABCB) and has been in this role since 1997. Ivan is based in Australia's capital city, Canberra.
Ivan has an economics background, and is supported by a team of design, engineering and other building professionals. His role has high order strategic, national and technical policy responsibilities.
The ABCB is a joint Australian Government, State and Territory body supported by industry and local government to oversight, implement and maintain the Building Code of Australia (the Code). The Code's objectives relate to health, safety, amenity and sustainability in the design and construction of all new buildings in Australia.
ABCB also advises governments on regulatory reform affecting the building industry.
In addition to being CEO of the ABCB, he is Chairman of the Board's National Building Codes Committee. This Committee provides technical advice to the Board and State and Territory administrations about Code development.
Ivan was closely involved with the work associated with the changes that were made the Code over the period 2003-2010 to require all new buildings in Australia to be designed and built to minimum mandatory standards for energy efficiency performance, greenhouse gas mitigation as well as climate change adaptation issues.
He has also been closely involved in practical measures to address adaptation to climate change in the Code. |

Dr Nick Fleming
Chief Sustainability Officer, Sinclair Knight Merz
Nick Fleming is the Chief Sustainability Officer for the global operations of Sinclair Knight Merz, a leading engineering, sciences and project delivery firm. He has over 15 years local and international experience in consulting and applied research, leading complex multi-disciplinary projects that aspire to sustainability outcomes. His track record includes projects across the water, mining, infrastructure, defence and natural resources sectors, and all levels of government, where he principally operates as a strategist and integrator of technical disciplines dealing with aspects of change processes, capacity building, decision support and institutional reform. He routinely works at the Board and executive level, helping to develop pragmatic strategies for private and public organisations. This knowledge and experience was recently recognised with an Honorary Fellowship of the Asian Foresight Institute. Prior to assuming his current role Nick was strategic director of Technology & Innovation for the Water & Environment business unit of SKM. He also sits on the Board Committees on Strategy and Corporate Social Responsibility for the firm, helping to shape our corporate strategies and investments to 'make a positive and lasting impact on the world'. |

Scott Harris
CEO, Beacon Foundation
Scott came to Beacon from a successful career in sales and management in Tasmania and Victoria as well as involvement in running other small businesses. Together with his wife Jo, Scott is the Tasmanian agent for several national and overseas products.
In his role at Beacon Scott has been instrumental in taking Beacon from a Tasmanian only organisation to now having a presence in over 100 communities across Australia in all states and both territories.
In July 2007 Scott was awarded a scholarship for excellence in social venture, leadership and management to attend Harvard Business School.
Outside of work Scott has spent 20 years playing Australian Rules football where he is his club’s games record holder, former coach and president. |

Nigel Hatcher
Director, Macromonitor
Nigel Hatcher is the founding director of Macromonitor Pty Ltd, based in Sydney. Nigel has a Bachelor of Commerce (Hons) from the University of New South Wales and has 18 years experience as a consultant economist and industry forecaster.
Nigel is the principal author of Macromonitor's annual multi-client forecasting reports on the outlook for construction activity and construction costs. He also undertakes tailored forecasting work for a wide range of clients across the materials, construction, mining and utilities sectors. This work has included numerous forecasting models for construction materials.
Nigel assists clients with business forecasting for strategic planning, capital expenditure planning, marketing strategy development, cost escalation projections and general market analysis. Nigel's clients include private businesses, government departments and government business enterprises. |

David Anthony Hood
FIEAust CPEng
David Hood is a Chartered Professional Engineer, registered on NPER to practice in civil and environmental engineering. David has over thirty five years experience in business, engineering, education, project management, and senior executive positions in both the public and private sectors.
David graduated in civil engineering from the University of Queensland in 1969, and spent ten years in the Royal Australian Air Force as a Commissioned Officer involved with the planning, development, and construction of RAAF bases throughout Australia. After a further seven years as an airport planner, and Project Director with the Federal Department of Aviation, David was appointed Senior Property Executive with the Parliament of Australia where he was responsible for the take-over and commissioning of Australia’s then New Parliament House in Canberra. Following the successful start-up of Parliament House, David moved back to the aviation sector where he managed a number of technology IP commercialisation projects, including the establishment of joint venture companies to develop and market air traffic control related software and other products around the world.
David then worked as National Manager Aviation and Defence with Maunsell Pty Ltd, before being appointed National Director Engineering Practice with the Institution of Engineers, Australia where he was responsible for technical standards, registration, and the delivery of the Institution’s continuing professional development and education programs.
David was a Founding Director of the Australian Construction Industry Forum (ACIF), and of the Australian Council of Building Design Professions (BDP), and was for six years a Councillor, and for three a Director of Standards Australia International.
David is currently Chairman of his own consulting engineering practice specialising in the areas of sustainability in the built environment, “green projects”, energy efficiency policy, engineering education and global engineering infrastructure. David has also directed a number of government and industry funded programs throughout S E Asia and Africa assisting the engineering profession in evolving economies with the development of competency standards and assessment processes, practice registration and education upgrading and accreditation systems.
As an investor, Chairman, and Board member David led the successful turnaround of CBD Energy Limited, a small public company involved in energy saving technology and solutions for the property industry.
David is actively involved with industry and professional associations promoting the improved energy performance of buildings. David sits on a number of industry, community and university advisory boards where his extensive engineering background, and considerable involvement at a senior level in the built environment sector is influencing change in the “energy culture” of Australia.
David is an Adjunct Professor in the Faculty of the Built Environment and Engineering at Queensland University of Technology, Chairman of the Australian College of Environmental Engineers, Chairman of the Australian Green Infrastructure Council (AGIC), and is Past Deputy President of the Australian Sustainable Built Environment Council (ASBEC). David is also an accredited presenter on Al Gore’s Climate Project, and lectures widely on climate change and sustainability where his passion enthuses others to make a difference and reduce the damage we are inflicting on the earth’s systems. |

Martin Isles

The MPA - formed in March 2009 - is the new trade association for the aggregates, asphalt, cement, concrete, lime, mortar & silica sand industries. Our members supply around €5bn of essential materials to the UK economy.
Martin’s role is to render health & safety advice and guidance to 222 UK members, and 22 nations in membership of the European Aggregates Association, UEPG; to chart & encourage improvements in health & safety performance; to represent and promote the Industry with its stakeholders; to maintain & develop www.Safequarry.com; to form international partnerships to persuade the global manufacturers of mobile plant to provide equipment that is 'Safer by Design'. Most important of all to facilitate the drive towards the overarching target of Zero Harm to the total workforce. |

Professor Jim Joy
Director, Minerals Industry Safety and Health Centre (MISHC)
Professor Jim Joy has been Director of Minerals Industry Safety and Health Centre (MISHC) since 1998. Professor Joy is well respected within the Minerals Industry for his expertise in safety and risk, having spent his early years as a Human Factors specialist in the Nuclear Industry. Professor Joy's experience in mining risk management projects, where he has facilitated over 300 risk assessments and 40 major accident investigations, extends beyond Australia to the major international mining countries. Jim is also a regular presenter at industry forums, delivering papers on current minerals industry issues such as the potential impact of a safety case regime, risk and coal mining governance, and human factors engineering issues related to the design of mobile equipment.
Professor Joy has engaged in several overseas research projects with The US National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) and delivered Minerals Industry Risk Management courses for a range of international organisations.
As the Chair of Minerals Industry Safety Risk management at SMI, Professor Jim Joy continues to lead a team in defining and developing leading safety management practices for the resources industry. A particularly noteworthy event from Professor Joy's time as Director was the presentation of a US$1-million cheque from international mining conglomerate Anglo American.
This major sponsorship deal has seen MISHC continue to innovate with risk management practices in the minerals industry, and particularly Anglo American operations. Anglo American's four-year partnership with SMI continues to foster and develop the innovative risk management work currently being undertaken by Professor Joy and his MISHC team. |

Charles MacDonald
Charles holds the position of General Manager Construction at BrisConnections the company responsible for the design, construction and operation of the $4 billion Airport Link project in Brisbane. Charles was formerly the Chief Engineer at Thiess and has some 35 years experience in the design and construction of civil infrastructure works worldwide. He has held senior positions with Contractors, Consultants, in the Public Sector and Academia providing a broad background and comprehensive understanding of technical, commercial and contractual issues. Charles is also a Director of Australasian Alliancing Association, an industry body which promotes the appropriate use of relationship based procurement. |

Travis Potts
Travis Potts is the Project Development Manager at Boral Quarries, where he is responsible for managing feasibility studies and quarry development projects.
Travis graduated with an honours degree in Geochemistry from the University of Wollongong in 2003, completing his honours project on the geology of Readymix's Cooma Road Quarry, Queanbeyan.
Travis joined Boral's Sydney based National Overlay team in early 2004, where he worked as a geologist and mine planner for major quarry projects. Travis transferred to Brisbane in 2005 in the role of South East Queensland Quarry Geologist, and took a "hands-on" approach to managing quarry development and stripping projects.
Since 2007, Travis has worked as the Project Development Manager across Boral's QLD operations. |

Bernard Salt
Business Analyst, Property Advisor, Media Commentator, Consumer and Cultural Trends Commentator, Author
Bernard Salt has been described as the next-generation Hugh Mackay and Phil Ruthven. Bernard is KPMG Director of Property. He has established an enviable profile within corporate Australia as an adviser and as a commentator on consumer, cultural and demographic trends. He is also author of a best-selling book The Big Shift launched in July 2001.
Bernard's client list reads like a Who's Who of Business investment and development. He has worked on a diverse range of projects-from advising retailers where and why to position stores, to being instrumental in the launch and expansion of a property trust established in 1995 and which now contains assets of more than $500 million.

Wendy Sarkissian
Futurist
Dr Wendy Sarkissian is passionate about our future: the future of work, of housing, of communities and of citizen participation. She is committed to finding spirited ways to nurture and support an engaged citizenry. Her successful career as consultant and academic in Australia and overseas has provided firsthand knowledge of many contexts, from developers’ boardrooms to low-income housing estates. She holds a Masters of Arts in literature, a Master of Town Planning and a PhD in environmental ethics.
Building a career as a social planning consultant when there was no such discipline, she has pioneered innovative planning and development approaches in an astonishing variety of contexts. This work has earned her forty professional awards.
She has worked with senior managers and advisors to government departments and private enterprise, primarily in the urban, community, housing and development sectors.
Widely regarded as a leader in her profession and acclaimed as a humorous and thought-provoking speaker, Dr Sarkissian is a Fellow of the Planning Institute of Australia and a Member of the International Board of Global Urban Development.
She has served on Boards in South Australia and Queensland and is the award-winning author of several books on housing and community engagement. She lives in an intentional ecological community in northern New South Wales. |

Tegan Smith
Tegan Smith is the Managing Partner of Groundwork Plus. Groundwork Plus is a Brisbane based resource, environment and land use planning consultancy which has specialised in extractive industry related development since 1982.
Tegan holds an honours degree in Environmental Management majoring in Sustainable Development and a Masters degree in Urban and Regional Planning.
Tegan is well known for her passion for the extractive industry and is especially interested in assisting clients to obtain an understanding of Queensland planning and environmental legislation and process to achieve practical 'on the ground' solutions to complex planning issues.
Tegan has assisted Cement Concrete and Aggregates Australia (CCAA), the peak industry body for heavy construction materials since 2004, providing advice on a range of topics comprising planning and environmental legislation throughout Queensland. |

Craig Sneesby
Craig Sneesby graduated from Griffith University with a double degree in Marketing and Sports Science. Whilst studying Craig worked within the Australian Institute of Sport partnering with elite athletes in the training plans prior to the Atlanta Olympics. Craig commenced his corporate career within the commercial property industry where he worked within the commercial leasing sector in the Brisbane CBD for a leading organisation. Trading buildings for people in the late 90's, Craig has spent the past 12+ years working within the Queensland executive recruitment market. Whilst consulting Craig was awarded national excellence for his contribution in providing specialist consulting services to the executive sectors with a particular focus on the Healthcare and Property markets. His career has developed within the industry through a range of leadership positions including Queensland Practice Manager for Morgan & Banks where he was responsible for the management and development of the Property & Construction, Sales & Marketing, Banking & Finance and Accounting business units across Queensland. Ben Swan
QLD Assistant Branch Secretary, AWU
Ben Swan is the recently elected Queensland Assistant Branch Secretary of The Australian Workers Union - Australia's oldest and largest continuously operating blue collar union.
At 36 years of age, Ben has been a member of the AWU for more than 20 years, having first joined at the age of 14 when he worked during school holidays at a major Queensland dairy company.
For more than a decade, Ben has worked directly for the SWU, both in Queensland Branch and in the National Office in a variety of capacities. As a former AWU Assistant National Secretary, National Organiser and Queensland Branch Industrial Advocate, Ben has represented the interests of AWU members in many different forums and industrial jurisdictions across industries as diverse as Aluminium, Steel, Mining, Aviation, Retail, Sugar and Pastoral.
Ben has also represented the AWU as Treasurer of the former Queensland Mining Industry Training Advisory Body, as a representative on the Queensland Industrial Relations Education Committee and on the Queensland Mining Industry Taskforce.
In addition to his work with the AWU, Ben has also held positions in the public sector as Ministerial Senior Policy Advisor, Human Resource Consultant and Industrial Commission Associate. |

Drew Wagner

Corporate Services Branch
Mr Drew Wagner is the Branch Manager of the Corporate Services Branch, Safe Work Australia.
Drew has worked in the Australian Public Service for 20 years, including positions in the Department of Health and Ageing and the Office of the National Occupational Health and Safety Commission. Before joining the APS, Drew was a medical research scientist for five years, with a research focus on the metabolism and health effects of chemicals.
Prior to his current position in Safe Work Australia Drew worked for two years as a Principal Administrator in the Environment, Health and Safety Division of the OECD in Paris.
Drew has a Bachelor of Science Degree, with majors in biochemistry and life sciences from Griffith University in Qld, and a Master of Medical Science Degree from the Faculty of Medicine, University of Tasmania. |

Warwick Willmott
Geologist
Warwick Willmott is a geologist who worked for many years with the Geological Survey of Queensland in the Department of Mines and its successors on geological mapping, location of quarry resources, geological hazards, and land use planning, including the formulation of Key Resource Areas.
He likes to bring geology to the public, and has written booklets in a Rocks and Landscape series for the Geological Society of Australia, and has assisted with brochures, signboards talks and excursions for the public. |
