The Children's Book Council of Australia   CBCA Australia
The mission of The Children's Book Council of Australia is to engage the community with literature for young Australians. It does this through:
  • Managing the Children's Book of the Year Awards.
  • Providing information on and encouragement to authors and illustrators.
  • Organising exhibitions and activities during Children's Book Week.
  • Supporting children's library services
  • Promoting high standards in book reviewing.
     
The Children's Book Council of Australia   CBCA Victorian Branch
The Victorian Branch was established in 1954 and is an incorporated body. It is run by a voluntary committee who organise activities and events to support the CBCA objectives. Membership is open to anyone who is interested in bringing children and good books together. Regional branches operate throughout Victoria.

Your interest and participation are welcome in the following areas:
  • The Christmas Book Appeal which funds the purchase of books at Christmas for children in care in Victoria.
  • Children's Book Week activities, including the Children's Book Week Festival.
  • Access to the CBCA Research Collection, housed at Deakin University (Burwood Campus).
  • The Crichton Award, which is presented annually to encourage and recognise new talent in the field of Australian picture books
  • Promotional Events including the Clayton's Night, seminars, etc.
  • The Victorian CBCA Newsletter keeping all CBCA members informed of Victorian branch activities and other areas relating to books and children.
