About the Conference
The Australasian Society for Psychiatric Research (ASPR) is a peak body for psychiatric and mental health research in Australia and New Zealand.
The Society includes researchers from a range of disciplines (including psychiatrists, psychologists, statisticians, epidemiologists, neuroscientists, geneticists, social scientists, mental health nurses, health economists). The annual ASPR Conference provides an opportunity for mental health researchers to come together to report on their most recent work, to stay abreast of developments in their own and related fields, to strengthen existing collaborations and to develop new ones.
The ASPR 2010 Conference will be held in Sydney at the Swiss Grand Bondi Beach from Sunday 5 to Wednesday 8 December 2010.
The conference program will feature special events for early career researchers and a limited number of travel scholarships will be offered.
The conference aims to provide a forum for mental health researchers and professionals to present and discuss the latest work in the field.
The conference will appeal to people from a wide range of disciplines including psychiatrists, psychologists, mental health nurses, statisticians, neuroscientists, geneticists, social scientists, health economists and health policy professionals.
The conference will also feature keynote presentations from international experts with research presentations and poster sessions showcasing the latest work in the field.
Conference Awards
The Australasian Society for Psychiatric Research provides a number of awards to researchers each year. These include:

- Schering-Plough Award
- Australian Rotary Health Knowledge Dissemination Award
- AFFIRM Early Career Award
- ASPR Consumer-Researcher Award
- ASPR-Schizophrenia Fellowship Consumer-Researcher Award
- Depression and Anxiety Consumer Research Unit (CRU) Medal (New Award for 2010)
- Schizophrenia Fellowship of NSW Research Trust Fund Bursary
- Best Debut Presentation and Best Poster
- Grants-in-Aid
Some awards require nominations to be made and others are open to all attendees, and are selected at the conference. Specific guidelines are also applicable for each award.
