Invitation from the Scientific Chair
The Australasian Podiatry Conference 2011 is going to meet two important benchmarks – it will be subject to scientific rigour and it will meet the needs of the profession.
I think the conference theme ‘Setting the pace’ is highly appropriate, as there’s a lot going on in relation to national registration and accreditation, expanding scope of practice, changes in undergraduate education and vastly expanding research activity. Our goal is to ensure that the conference reflects these changes and also helps set the agenda for the future.
The committee has taken on board the feedback from previous conferences, so in 2011 we will have a lot more practical, hand-on sessions to complement the original research presentations.
Don’t forget that continuing professional development (CPD) is now obligatory for all podiatrists and in all jurisdictions. The conference will offer an excellent opportunity to accrue points across most of the CPD categories.
I look forward to welcoming delegates and I trust all will leave feeling they have derived an enhanced professional capacity and competence. Ours is an important discipline in the health care continuum and it is important we ‘measure up’ in terms of currency of our knowledge and skill sets.
See you in Melbourne in 2011!

Program
The 2011 Conference program will include many speakers covering a wide variety of subjects across various presentation formats within three full days and a welcome event. Click here to download the preliminary program. Please note that the program is subject to change.
The 2011 format has adopted some minor adjustments in light of delegate and speaker feedback from 2009. The biggest difference is the addition of a Welcome Reception on first day of the program and the removal of the half day at the end of the program. Also being implemented is a number of additional workshops that will offer delegates a more hands on experience and a wonderful opportunity for professional development and interactive learning.
In what is guaranteed to be a fantastic event we are pleased to confirm three international keynotes that are leaders in their fields and who will provide a fantastic learning opportunity. Concurrent sessions will ensure that everyone can attend oral presentations relevant to their specific field while the poster presentations will allow for delegates to have one-on-one access with speakers.
